Players control three separate protagonists whose paths intertwine as they confront an ancient threat once dismissed as folklore. Captain Thorn Brenin is a retired royal guard captain driven to protect his family. Lo Pheng is a skilled bodyguard and assassin bound by duty and clan obligations. Hopper Rouley appears as a wandering scribe and healer but carries a deeper, more mysterious past. Dialogue choices, resource decisions, and battlefield outcomes reshape alliances, moral standing, and future events. Character death does not trigger a game over; the narrative continues, carrying the weight of lost companions and earlier choices into later chapters.

Combat unfolds on isometric grids with turn-based positioning and ability use. Characters draw on both traditional class skills and a limited deck of powerful cards that can shift the momentum of an entire battle. Energy and health are tightly managed resources—many actions consume health directly, and depleted energy leaves units vulnerable to heavier damage. There are no random hit-chance dice rolls; success depends on positioning, ability mastery, and smart card timing. The AI adapts to player habits, discouraging repetitive strategies. Outside of story mode, players can engage in PvP matches and climb leaderboards with customized parties.

The game emphasizes risk and consequence. Safer routes preserve resources but may cost time or opportunities, while bolder paths offer better rewards at greater peril. Multiple difficulty modes cater to players who prefer narrative focus or pure tactical challenge. The hand-drawn art style, atmospheric score, and Slavic-influenced dark fantasy setting create a grim yet visually distinctive world where every decision feels costly.
